Memo From Dominic Cummings
Memo from
Dominic Cummings to Cabinet
Wouldn’t it
be nice is Politicians were able to be honest and apologise for their mistakes.
Monday 13th
April marked a special day in Europe as the French President Emmanuel Macron
was the first European Leader to be honest and openly apologise for errors in
their handling of COVID19.

Memo From
:- Dominic Cummings, Chief Advisor
to PM
Memo To : Boris
Johnson and Cabinet members.
Subject : The
importance of managing the media
Date : 13th
April 2020
We have
been discussing the impact on our ratings, and how we are potentially exposed
to the NHS under-funding and our handling of COVID19.
The
following rules must be adopted forthwith, and no-one must stray from this
line :-
1. Never apologize for our
mistakes.
If
put on the spot in the daily briefings, then bat them off with a woolly answer,
and swiftly move on.
2. Always state how much we have
increased NHS expenditure in the 2020 budget, and again if questioned on the
size of our bigger cuts prior to 2020, just repeat how much we have increased
our expenditure this year.
3. Try to use the word ‘unprecedented’
as much as possible.
This
rings well with the public, and makes them feel as though this sort of crisis
could never have been planned for or foreseen.
There
is a daily prize of a bottle of Dom 1989 ( a fine vintage ) for the Minister
that uses the word ‘unprecedented’ the most in media briefings.
4. Let’s use the idiots that do not
practice social distancing.
We
can deflect attention from our Audit failings onto them.
The
public will fall for this one.
5. If anyone criticises us for a slow
response to lockdown, then always point to countries that have been far slower,
or indeed have not yet implemented a lockdown.
6. After the Good Morning Britain
fiasco, we must never ever expose ourselves to questioning by the popular and
highly viewed media.
7. No more media interviews where we
do not have control of the debate.
Absolutely
NO MORE.
8. We are to use a new strap line,
whether we believe it or not.
Every answer must start with ‘We are working day and night .. blah blah blah’.
Every answer must start with ‘We are working day and night .. blah blah blah’.
The
public loved our 3 word general election campaign of ‘Get Brexit Done’ and will
fall for this new one too.
9. I have got the Daily Mail,
Telegraph, Express and The Sun on board.
I
have also managed somehow to get the BBC and ITV to use the words ‘unprecedented’
and ‘working day and night’.
Those
bastards at C4 though are not listening.
The above
rules must be adhered to.
Managing
our approval ratings is far more important than the impact on the NHS and Care
Sector.
We can do
this, and we must.
Yours
sincerely
Dom
