The New Leaders and politicians

Me and my musings

When the world resets wouldn’t it be lovely to have a new breed of politicians.

I would love to see all politicians register a personal statement where they are personally accountable for their behaviour, and to commit to :-
1. Putting the citizens of our country above all personal gain, and to support the poor and vulnerable.

2. Putting right all significant previous wrongs (and my list would be vast) e.g. legal or illegal tax avoidance.

3. Bringing all immediate family off-shore investments back to UK, and paying the ‘right’ rate of tax, fully backdated.

4. To close all off-shore facilities or at least to make them fully transparent.

5. To pledge to rapidly increase our present 0.75% AID budget to help provide water to the 800 million that don’t have it and to provide sanitation to the 2,800 million that don’t have this. And to end the disgraceful situation where a child dies every 2 seconds from starvation and diarrhoea .. from WaterAid

Wouldn’t it be lovely if politicians actually served the people.

Re-righting the Role of Companies and Other trading entities Wouldn’t it be nice if trading companies had a social purpose, in addition to making profits for their shareholders? The legal entity of a company was established about 400 years ago as trading routes opened up across the world.   The limited liability status was added in the early 1800s.   Since then the role of the company has been the primary form of wealth generation by manufacturing, transporting, and selling goods and services. There has probably never been a time when all of the stakeholders were allocated a share of the profits i.e. after the owners paid the lowest amount they could to the workers, then they kept the remainder.   Maybe now is the time for this to change. Will COVID claim 200 million lives in the poorest of the Poor ?
