SHOCK. What if we have no control over our lives ?
Something truly shocking . What if we are not in control ?
What if we are starting to realise that we are not in
control? This would also apply to the
leaders and politicians who will be powerless to do anything about the destruction
falling about us, and also powerless to control how we emerge. Even more shocking to many would be the
thought that the control lies with Nature or some higher power.
The above 2 thoughts are of course messages for those in the
rich countries of our World, because the vast majority of people in the less wealthy
countries already know, and have to live with this truth. They are understood by many voices in the
span of the Green movement and in the UK within the ‘extinction Rebellion’
movement. They are also beginning to be
understood by people of faith. But many
people in the rich West have never had to grapple with this concept, and may
find it just too much to bear.
The loss of life and grief is tragic. Those suffering with COVID have our thoughts
and prayers. As do the awesome workers
in the care sector across the world. The
world is suffering with COVID. However
it was suffering also preCOVID with 8,000, 000 children dying each year from
starvation & diarrhoea.
Now ,just suppose that the control does lie with nature or
some higher power; then what are the implications for us all ?
Firstly, we cannot go back to the way that we lived preCOVID. The exception being that we shall be able to
hug, kiss and be closer to our friends and family.
Secondly, quick, effective and drastic action must be taken
to protect the Earth. This is not just
for our sakes, but also for our children and our childrens’ children.
We now have clean air, and pollution is falling, probably to
levels that we would like to achieve by 2050 (Climate Change targets). This has been achieved by not polluting the
skies with metal devices that pump out gases (called aeroplanes). We have also drastically reduced the use of
metal devices on wheels that pump out toxins into our immediate environment (called
cars/lorries).
Thirdly, the UN and the world leaders, need to stop wars. It can be done, and it must be done. A new charter, a new mandate, and a new
way. We need to stop the defence trade
including the metal objects that maim and kill so many innocents (called bombs
and missiles).
Lastly and probably the most important, we need to realise
that we are one interconnected family, where living in the UK, or a remote
village in The Gambia. We need to share
our daily bread, and would suggest that the UKs relatively generous AID is
increase from 0.75p in the £1, to 10p in the £1. This suggestion comes from widely held views held
by faith groups.
If the control does
indeed lie with nature or some higher power, then we might only emerge from this
state, when we acknowledge our carelessness and greed, and look to protect and
support the poor and vulnerable, plus our beautiful planet. And yes there are quite a few aspects of this time that I am loving, and fully embracing.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we eventually grasped this new way of
living?
Love and Peace
