Beauty For Brokenness (2)

Wouldn’t it be nice if we lived in a paradise described by John Lennon in his wonderful song ‘Imagine’ ?

There is another more modern song ‘Beauty for Brokenness’ by Graham Kendrick, that for me encapsulates exactly the same sentiment, and also include words from a faith perspective.  I apologise to anyone offended by this as this would never be my intention.   For those that know me well, they will know that I have a huge distaste for Religion, and there also plenty of references in The Bible that call out its worthlessness.  Indeed, Jesus was crucified by the Religious.

I have printed out below, as it can read as a poem. The link to hear it ( including text and video) is

BEAUTY FOR BROKENNESS  Graham Kendrick

Beauty for Brokenness, Hope For Despair
Lord in our suffering, This is our prayer
Bread for the children, Justice, Joy, Peace
Sunrise to sunset, Your Kingdom increase

Shelter for fragile lives, Cures for their ills
Work for the Craftsmen, Trade for their skills
Land for the Dispossessed, Rights For the weak
Voices to plead the cause, Of those that can’t speak
Chorus
God of the Poor, Friend of the weak
Give us compassion we pray, Melt our cold hearts.
Let tears fall like rain
Come change our love, From a spark to a flame.

Refuge from cruel wars, Havens from fear
Cities for Sanctuary, Freedoms to share
Peace for the killing fields, Scorched Earth to green
Christ for the bitterness, His cross for the pain.
Chorus
Rest for the ravaged Earth, Oceans and Streams
Plundered and poisoned, Our future our dreams
Lord end our madness, Carelessness greed
Make us content with the things that we need
Chorus
Lighten our darkness, Breathe on this flame
Until your justice burns brightly again
Until the nations, Learn of your ways
Seek your salvation, and bring you their praise.
Chorus
Chorus
Now wouldn’t that be nice if we lived in the paradise described by John Lennon and Graham Kendrick.
Love and Peace
